Tips on | integrating decorative screens into your home

As a kid, I remember having a large asian style folding screen at home (which my mom was very fond of) and which served as an important accent element in our main living room. This may have been the reason why I grew up not liking these screens much... just because in my mind they related to the old, not that old isn't beautiful, but it kinda seemed a little old fashioned to me.

In life, it's only normal to change your opinion as you start to 'know better' and as a designer, I did eventually start to know better with regards to these magical pieces.. I did realize the number of functional these pieces hold and the aesthetic dimension they bring to a space.

To mention some of the ways you can use these screens...................

1. Against a blank wall. Yes, they can serve as a great replacement to wall-art and will fill up an empty wall beautifully.

2. Dividing spaces up. Example: between your living and dining spaces or between 2 living rooms.

3. Have an empty corner you're not sure how to decorate? These screens are definitely a great way to working your corner up!

4. Bring out a color or a material you want to highlight in your room. Love the brushed gold and the glossy blue finish.

5. Headboard! What a great DIY headboard idea.

And who says decorative screens cannot be contemporary?! I just love this piece.

Any other ideas how these screens can be used? Let me know!
