Our homes are not only places we live in, they are places we need to love first and foremost. They are part of who we are and are a huge reflection of our identity, which makes the first impression made of you happen right at the entrance of your home! First impressions last forever, so it is very important to make a statement right at the entrance!!
Some homes have large foyers, some have medium-sized hallways and some barely have any (usually just an entryway where you will need to put some extra effort to make it stand out!).
Based on projects I've worked on, I've listed below some of the most important elements to help you create fabulous foyers:
- LIGHTING! I make this my no. 1 and most important element. This includes hanging lamps / chandeliers, floor lamps and candles..
- A rug or a runner depending on the entryway space design - this will help soften up your hallway
- A round or a console table for display
- Wall decor (wall paper, paint, wall art, mirrors, frames..etc)
- Seating (if you have the space)
- Plants!
These elements will help you create the 'wow' factor and a smooth transition to the rest of your home. The images I showcase below will give you a better idea of how this can be applied, starting with smaller hallways to larger ones....
Small entryways:
This chandelier looks fab against the black wall. Adds so much drama and luxury. This vignette summarizes all the elements we discussed above! Love the console table, the table lamp which provides additional lighting, the gold mirror against the black, the toned down yet elegant runner and that pop of green life i.e. plant!!
Simple and fresh! Use your door to add a pop of color! Beautiful runner picking up on the green! Love everything about this.
Framed wall art is an awesome tool to fill up an entryway wall if you have no room for adding any accent or furniture pieces. This is where a runner and some art is everything you need.
Want to create more drama? Go for a bold color! A simple bench is great for seating.
Keep it simple if restricted by space..
Medium-sized foyers:
With little bigger foyers you can introduce more formal seating like a love seat. You can use your seating to add color if you decide to go with neutral walls.
A round table is always great for display. Keep it at a decent size so as not to overwhelm your space.
That runner!
Consider a square rug at your entrance if your foyer is more squarish.
And if your entry way faces a blank wall, create interest by filling it up.
Large foyers:
Go for a round tables if you are lucky enough to have a large foyer.
