Feng Shui | For a More Relaxing and Prosperous Home or Office

I have recently been reading a lot about Feng Shui and how it helps in realigning the energies in your home. Lately, Feng Shui has become an overly used term that interior designers keep using to create healing and more productive interior spaces.

If you believe, like I do, that a home or office has a soul and energy just like everything else around us does, you may need to know more about what makes your home / office a more positive and cheerful space as opposed to a negative and stressful space.

Actually, there are many rules that the old Chinese ( God bless them ) have shared with the world. Their Feng Shui rules on do's and don'ts when it comes to decorating a space mostly are to eliminate negative energies and boost positive energies.

Here are a few simple Feng Shui tips:

1- Water - At the entrance of your home or office, make sure to add a water element or feature which helps in cleansing the air. The water sound also sends out relaxation messages.

2- Plants - Having plants around your home / office space invites good energy and is supposed to lift your mood.

3- Animals - Now this is interesting! Placing animal elements such as wool or leather in the back of your home/office can help you gain recognition in your community!

4- Windows - Windows are the eyes of the home. Add soft window treatments to bring in ease and slow down energy especially if you have too many windows with active views (city, street..etc). Make sure whatever window covering you go for still allows plenty of natural daylight to your space and provides the necessary privacy at night.

5- Mirrors - These are believed to be master healers if used correctly! For example: Never place mirrors on a south wall! Always replace broken or chipped mirrors! And do not place a mirror facing a door!

6- Candles - These are great for bringing in soothing energy. Candles bring in the fire element and are supposed to purify a space.

How to get the LOOK | La Vie Boheme (The Boho Chic)

The Bohemian look is for people who are daring and who refuse to stick to standard rules and guidelines! The Boho style looks laid back, random and busy, but we know nothing is just random in design. To get your room looking 'Bohemian' you should first and foremost not have any empty corners.. fill any empty spaces with paintings, pillows, figurines and accessories. Yes, A LOT of accessories!!

The word Bohemian dates back to the1800’s as it was used to name the wanderers who live a certain life style.. mainly people who did not agree with the social and political norms.  The last few years have seen a grand revival of the vintage and retro elements in both the fashion and interior design worlds. Bold colors and patters with golden metallic surfaces are some key characteristics to this design style.

This style is a favorite by Hollywood celebrities like Kate Moss and Sienna Miller (apparent in the 2000s) through their fashion sense and home interiors.

So if you feel the same way or have a similar view in life, get inspired by these bohemian rooms and try to dress UR space in some of these fabulous BOHO design aspects..

I so love these pattern-full chairs!! So obsessing about this style right now that I am planning to bohemian-ize my whole basement!

Current Obsession | Black & White Rugs

Black and white rugs which I'm currently obsessing about... I have shared the same rug more than once sometimes to show how it can be used in different settings and room arrangements..
